Adam Roger Douglas' high register vocals may put some people off, but there's no denying that this is a noteworthy modern Melodic Rock album characterised by the use of subtle electronics and easy-on-the-ear guitar. It's something perhaps exemplified most by the Pop-orientated hooks of 'Hindsight', the instantly hummable chorus of opener 'Walk My Way' or the chugging commercial Rock of 'Black Dreams'. AWAKEN, named after a song by rock band Yes (a favorite of founders Wilcox and drummer Brian Beyer), plays mostly rock, while dabbling also in pop and country. It's a similar case with 'Blind Love', the follow-up to Awaken I Am's 2015's debut 'Shields & Crowns', where the band has retained its sound but added a commercial element.
